He sailed to the lead in the shadow of the wire going 9 furlongs. In mid-stretch he had a big job to do to overtake the leader, but he rallied strongly for the win. SPARTIATIS, a 6 year old Scat Daddy gelding, had to duel for almost the entire 6 furlongs but he put away his rival in the stretch to win an allowance race at Aqueduct. He is a homebred for C. Peter Beler trained by Leon Blusiewicz. Spartiatis has earned over $170,000.
Clair de Lune breaks her maiden at Aqueduct
The cleverly named three-year-old filly CLAIR DE LUNE, by Malibu Moon, broke her maiden at Aqueduct in her second start. She wired the field going a mile while in hand. Watch for this one. Torcci breaks his maiden at Fair Grounds
Three year old Jeff Engler trainee TORCCI overcame a very rough trip to break his maiden at the Fair Grounds going a mile on the dirt, He was pinched from both sides coming out of the gate, was checked and bounced off the rail, but he finally got outside and up for the win. He is owned by Wayne Carucci and was bred by Dr. Jerry Bilinski & Harry Patten in New York.
Moon Song wins at Oaklawn
Trained and co-owned by Paul E. Holthus, 5 year old Eleusive Quality gelding, MOON SONG won at Oaklawn. He was never far back and surged to the lead to win with ease going 6 furlongs on the dirt. It was his third win. Moon Song’s co-owner is Romar, LLC and he was bred by Darley, John H. Adger & Stone Farm.
Thunderbumm wins on DQ at Aqueduct
Merrylegs Farm homebred THUNDERBUMMS, a Thunder Gulch three year old gelding, graduated on a DQ at Aqueduct in his second start. He got slammed in deep stretch by a dueling rival ducking from the whip and was awarded the win as a result. Thunderbumms is trained by Thomas Morley.
Wishful Winking wins at Santa Anita
Three-year-old filly Wishful Winking was a $140,000 Kirkwood Stables sale to owner Slugo Racing and Mike Puype. She was bred by Jerry Jamgotchian. Racing at Santa Anita in a MSW at a mile on the turf, she stalked the pace inside and then found room to ride the rail to gain and hold the lead to the wire. It was her 4th start.
