Saint Adalbert wins at Del Mar

Four year old Langfuhr gelding SAINT ADALBERT pressed the pace briefly and then went straight to the lead and held it to win at Del Mar for owner Bloom Racing Stable. He covered the 6 and 1/2 furlongs on the dirt in 1:18 and change. He has earned over $50,000 for his connections.

Realm wins at Saratoga

Co-Owned by Eric Dattner, Barclay Tagg, and Harry Astarita, REALM (Haynesfield) shook off the pacesetter early in the stretch and won by 1 3/4 lengths in 1:05 for 5 1/2 furlongs. The bay colt out of three-time G3 winner Shawnee Country, by Chief’s Crown was bred in Virginia by Morgan’s Ford Farm. The colt was purchased by Kirkwood last July and sold to his current owners in October 2014.

Inconclusive wins at Arlington

Kirkwood conditioned two year old filly INCONCLUSIVE made her first start count in a MSW at Arlington Park. She broke a tad slow and ended up inside horses. She was then able to swing out, pass the field and hit the wire 4 3/4 lengths in front. She is owned by Carolyn Friedberg and Jeff Larson and was bred by James Heyward.

Ulanbator wins at Indiana Grand Race Course

ULANBATOR garnered a stakes win at Indiana Grand, scoring in the Michael G. Schaefer Memorial Stakes going a mile and 70 on a sloppy sealed track. He came wide and held on to win by a nose. He is a 4 year old homebred colt for  Mary Ann Charlston and has bumped his earnings to $293,210.

Two Yearlings bought at Fasig-Tipton Sales

Last week at Fasig-Tipton’s yearling sale in Lexington Kip & team bought two yearlings to start next year’s pinhooking venture.

The first was Hip 261, a colt by Warrior’s Reward.  This is his second crop and he is off to a very good start with 30 winners already from his first crop.  This colt is out of a Malibu Moon mare that goes back to a good Alfred Vanderbilt family.

The second purchase was Hip 328, a filly by the exciting young sire, Creative Cause.  This filly is the half- sister to Tom’s Ready, a colt we bought for a client at last year’s Saratoga Sale.  She was bred by Christian Black’s Blackstone Farm in PA, is eligible for the lucrative Pennsylvania Program, and bred by people in whom we have great confidence.

Both of these will have an easy summer & start light training in September.

Two winners for Kirkwood trainees this weekend

West Point Thoroughbred’s STRONG STIPULATION eased to the lead and held sway to win an allowance race at Delaware Park. He was bred by Lazy Lane Farms LLC. At Canterbury Downs, SOUND EFFECT won his 6th race and pushed his earnings over $200,000. He is owned by TG Racing and was bred by Stone Farm.

Bajan Beach wins at Finger Lakes

NY Bred filly BAJAN BEACH came wide and dueled for a 2 1/2 length win in an open allowance race at Finger Lakes. She is trained by Jeremiah Engelhart , owned by Fortune Farm (Richard Nicolai) and Team Dunn and bred by WinStar Farm, LLC & M R Capital, LLC.
