Realm (Haynesfield) had moved up from a allowance win to run third in the G1 Cigar Mile, and add a graded stakes placing to his credentials in his last start. He added to that today running third in the Hal’s Hope G3. He was bothered at the start, settled into stride on the rail, inched up and the came on outside to the third. Realm is owned by his trainer Barclay Tagg , Eric Dattner and Harry Astarita and has earned over $200,000 for his connections.
At two, BANTY’S GIRL (Shackleford) came around horses and out-dueled the leader to get up for the win racing 6 furlongs on the inner track at Aqueduct. FIRE FOR EFFECT (Smart Strike) had a very bumpy start first out in November, but in his second start, he worked his way clear near the quarter pole and wore down a resolute foe ( a million dollar plus Uncle Mo colt) for the win.
