La Rambla wins at Indiana Downs

La Rambla has been knocking at the door, but got the job done in a MSW at Indiana Downs. She rated and then came 4 wide to duel down the stretch to the wire. She is trained by Mike Maker for owner Tracy Farmer and has earned over $58,000. She was bred by  Dixiana Farms LLC.

Recepta adds more black type

Multiple graded stakes placed RECEPTA followed up her Keeneland allowance win by adding still more black type. She ran a good third in the Beaugay Stakes – Gr. 3 at Belmont, rallying around horses in the stretch. She is owned by Phillips Racing Partnership and Pam Gartin and was bred by John W. Phillips & Hank Snowden. Her trainer is James J. Toner.

Bajan Beach broke wins in her first start on grass

Three year old Kirkwood owned Speightstown filly, BAJAN BEACH, broke her maiden at Belmont. She settled in mid pack and then spun out from the rail to challenge the leaders and then closed strongly to win going 7 furlongs on the turf. She is trained by Thomas Morley and was bred by  WinStar Farm, LLC & M R Capital, LLC.

Recepta and Money Changer win at Keeneland

It was a Keeneland sort of day for Kirkwood. Graded stakes placed RECEPTA, a 4 year old filly, stalked the pace 4 wide and then cleared to win a toughly fought allowance race. She is trained by James J. Toner and is owned by the Phillips Racing Partnership and Pam Gartin. She was bred by John W. Phillips & Hank Snowden. Her earnings stand at $180,200.

Earlier on the same card, 3 year old gelding, MONEY CHANGER, drove to the lead for owner Dogwood Stable and graduated in a MSW. He has been knocking on the door and already has over $70,000 in earnings. He is trained by Todd Pletcher and was bred in KY by Laura McKinney.

Pure breaks her maiden at Santa Anita

The Quality Road filly PURE broke her maiden at Santa Anita going 1 1/16 on the dirt. Although was forced wide around both turns, she gained on the leaders and kicked clear for the win. She has earned over $64,000. She is owned by DP Racing, LLC and was bred by Young Stables, LLC. She was prepped and sold by Kirkwood for $130,000 at Keeneland April.

Duval wins again

Almost always on the board in all 17 of his starts, four year old Kodiak Kowboy colt DUVAL, raced close to the pace and then challenged between horses to gain the lead and edge clear for the win. He was prepared by Kirkwood Stable and sold to Bill & Corinne Heiligbrodt. He is trained by Steven M. Asmussen and was bred in Pennsylvania by Mark Reid & DDS Stables.

Black Martino places at Gulfstream

Kirkwood prepped and consigned 3 year old Two Step Salsa colt, BLACK MARTINO, picked up black type in the Cutler Bay Stakes at Gulfstream going a mile on the turf. He went to the lead and dueled through the stretch, but had to settle for the show position. He is owned by Honors Stable Corp. and was bred by Bailey Bolen. His trainer is Jose Garoffalo.
