Madone made amends for her first career loss in the Breeders’ Cup with a decisive score in the Senorita Saturday night. Away well from her rail draw, the bay saved ground in a joint third through a :23.85 opening quarter. Biding her time as the dueling leaders shot off to a clear lead through a :47.05 half-mile, Madone split those foes in the lane and charged clear to score.

A debut winner on the Del Mar lawn July 31, Madone captured the Juvenile Fillies Turf S. There next out Sept. 6 and captured Santa Anita’s Surfer Girl S. Oct. 4. She suffered her first and only loss at Keeneland in the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf S. Nov. 6.

Pedigree Notes: Madone is the third graded winner and one of four black-type achievers for his sire Vancouver. She is the 14th graded winner and one of 46 black-type scorers produced by a daughter of Cherokee Run. Indian Love Call’s recent produce includes a juvenile filly by Astern (Aus) and a yearling colt by Cairo Prince. She was bred back to Gormley.

She’s My Type added to her black-type success with a win in Belmont’s License Fee S. Friday. Racing in mid-pack, the bay sat back off a swift first quarter in :22.24. Punching through between horses in the lane, she glided clear to a facile victory. AShe settled well in mid-pack and did everything nicely and looked very comfortable,@ said winning conditioner Christophe Clement. AWe=ll bring her back and start looking for some bigger and better things. There is the seven-eighths [GIII] Intercontinental in June and the [GI] Just a Game as well. If she comes out of this race in good shape and trains well, we can go that route.@ Winner of the Ginger Brew S. last term, She’s My Type checked in second in the Lady Shipman S. at Belmont June 21. She captured the Coronation Cup at Saratoga July 31 and was seventh in the Music City S. at Kentucky Downs Sept. 15. The winner’s dam–a half-sister to MGSW Blacktype (Fr) (Dunkerque {Fr})–is also responsible for the juvenile filly Plaisante (Fr) (Anodin {Ire}) and a yearling filly by Motivator (GB).
