She's My Type wins the License Fee Stakes at Belmont Park

Joe Labozzetta/NYRAShe’s My Type, ridden by Hector Diaz Jr., wins the $100,000 License Fee Stakes.

She’s My Type got a textbook ride from Hector Diaz Jr. to win the $100,000 License Fee Stakes comfortably in Friday’s nightcap at Belmont.

She’s My Type ($9.50) saved ground in midpack early in the six-furlong sprint on the inner turf course, as Jakarta and Caravel fought for the lead through splits of 22.24 seconds and 45.13.

She’s My Type loomed into contention late on the turn before Diaz angled her wide for the drive. She mowed down the leaders by the eighth pole and then drew off to score by 1 3/4 lengths, covering the distance in 1:08.34 over the firm ground.

Robin Sparkles came wide from a stalking position to end up second by three-quarters of a length over Caravel. Introduced wound up fourth, and was followed by Flower Point, I’llhandalthecash, Lady Lawyer, Jakarta, and 5-2 favorite Sweet Melania.

She’s My Type added to her black-type success with a win in Belmont’s License Fee S. Friday. Racing in mid-pack, the bay sat back off a swift first quarter in :22.24. Punching through between horses in the lane, she glided clear to a facile victory. AShe settled well in mid-pack and did everything nicely and looked very comfortable,@ said winning conditioner Christophe Clement. AWe=ll bring her back and start looking for some bigger and better things. There is the seven-eighths [GIII] Intercontinental in June and the [GI] Just a Game as well. If she comes out of this race in good shape and trains well, we can go that route.@ Winner of the Ginger Brew S. last term, She’s My Type checked in second in the Lady Shipman S. at Belmont June 21. She captured the Coronation Cup at Saratoga July 31 and was seventh in the Music City S. at Kentucky Downs Sept. 15. The winner’s dam–a half-sister to MGSW Blacktype (Fr) (Dunkerque {Fr})–is also responsible for the juvenile filly Plaisante (Fr) (Anodin {Ire}) and a yearling filly by Motivator (GB).
